The rehearsal room for your OCs
AI Fanfic Generator — your characters act it out
Cast 2–4 of your original characters in a trope. Each one only knows their own card and secret. You direct; they improvise the scene line by line.
1 free scene, no sign-up · about 40 seconds a scene
In shortCastfic is an AI fanfic generator where your own characters act out the scene. Each is played separately and knows only their own secret, you direct, one click rewrites it as prose or a screenplay, and their memories are saved to their cards. 1 free scene without an account, then 1 a day with Google sign-in.
How a scene works
Pin up your cast
Write a sticky note per character: voice, what they want, and a secret only they know. Or import a SillyTavern card.
Call action
Each character is played on their own, so nobody can read anyone else's secret. A director nudges the scene toward the ending you picked.
Take notes, then keep it
Add a stage direction, choose who speaks next, pick one of two branches or redo a round. Then rewrite it as prose or a screenplay.
Same scene, rewritten
One click turns the script into a story
This is the start and end of the 1240-word sweet prose version of the scene above — also unedited. Pick prose or a screenplay (Fountain), and sweet, angst, comedy or AO3 style.
What each character remembers
Saved to their card; it comes with them into the next scene.
- Mara: I'm scared of losing my cafe, but Theo's presence, even annoying, makes me feel less alone. Maybe he actually cares about me and my business.
- Theo: I finally admitted I care about Mara and her cafe. It was hard, but I don't want to see her fail, and her croissants are truly the best.
- June: I saw through their bickering to the real feelings underneath. It's clear they care deeply for each other, and it's a sweet story to witness.
The bell over the door gave its usual apologetic jingle, and Mara stiffened over the table she was wiping.
She knew the coat before she turned around. It was charcoal wool, pressed within an inch of its life, without a single raindrop on the shoulders, which seemed impossible on a Tuesday like this one. Rain had been sliding down the front window since noon, turning the street into a gray smear, and the whole café smelled of wet pavement and yesterday's cinnamon.
She smoothed a crumb off the counter with far too much zeal.
"Well," she said. "Look what the cat dragged in on this fine, soggy Tuesday. To what do we owe the *pleasure*?"
Theo adjusted his coat, which did not need adjusting. There was a smudge of ink on his left cuff, the only untidy thing about him, and Mara found she had looked at it twice. "Just passing by, Mara. A quick spot of market research, you understand. One must keep abreast of local trends."
· · ·
Theo sat. Mara set down the plate, and for a second her fingers brushed his cuff, right over the ink. Neither of them said anything about it.
Outside, the rain kept falling. Inside, for the first time in a month, nobody was in a hurry to leave.

Play today's sceneFrequently asked questions
Is Castfic free?
Yes, to start. 1 free scene without an account, then 1 free scene a day after signing in with Google, plus the free Daily Scene. A scene is 8 rounds and takes under a minute. If you want more, Scene Pass $4.99 for 15 scenes (no subscription), or Plus $7.99/month ($59/year).
Do I need an account?
Not for your first scene: open the site, pick a trope and play. After that you sign in with Google, which is what lets us save your characters and give you the daily free scene. Nothing else is required to try it.
Is it safe for teens? What are the age rules?
You must be 13 or older. Castfic is all-ages: input and output are filtered, and there is a report button on every scene. Romance is fine up to a confession or a kiss between adults; explicit content is not allowed. Users aged 13 to 17 can use the free tier but cannot pay.
Are my scenes private?
Yes. Share links are off until you turn one on, and the pages behind them are marked noindex so search engines do not list them. Your characters and scenes stay in your account unless you choose to share.
Can I write about characters from my favourite show or book?
Castfic is built for original characters. We do not supply canon characters or a character library, and there are no pages for specific fandoms. Writing your own OCs in your own AU is fine. Do not upload copyrighted text you do not own, and if you import a character card you confirm you have the right to use it. Rights holders can reach us through the DMCA contact in the footer.
How is this different from Character.AI or ChatGPT?
In a chat app you talk to one character, or one model voices everyone. In Castfic your 2 to 4 characters are played separately, each knowing only their own card and secret, and they act the scene out line by line while you direct: pause, add narration, pick who speaks next, choose a branch or redo a round. Afterwards one click rewrites the scene as prose or a screenplay, and a memory is saved to each card. Character.AI and ChatGPT do not do that loop.
What can I export?
Scenes export to Markdown, Fountain (screenplay format) and Word. Characters import and export as SillyTavern cards, so your cards are not locked in. Prose can be rewritten in four styles: sweet, angst, comedy and AO3-style, with a built-in list of clichés the writer avoids.
Do my characters remember earlier scenes?
Yes. After each scene a short memory is written back to every character's card, and the next scene starts with it. You can read and edit those notes. Free accounts keep 3 memories per character; Plus keeps 50. The relationship map shows how pairs have changed.
